extremely dry eyes after long sleep why?

Question: I have noticed in the past couple of weeks that after I sleep for the night (basically more than 3 hours) that my eyes become so dry I can barely move the lids. I used to have very very lubricated eyes I would tear up very often and wake up many times with the feeling I had been crying. I have not changed anything in my diet except that I have started taking in more water. I am on some blood pressure medicine and a water pill but I have been on those for several months. As I said it does not happen unless I have slept for a few hours. Does anyone have any idea what the cause could be for suddenly haveing dry eyes?
