i just got my tonsils out..any advice for the pain?

Question:
any tips for a speedy recovery? =[

Answers:
Ice cream sounds comforting but will likely cause a problem with phlegm due to milk in the ice cream. If you do eat it, make sure to follow it with lots of liquids to "clean up" your throat.

Sherbets, sorbet, Popsicles, etc., are, for the most part, easier to tolerate. Try to avoid foods that are red or purple in color.

Throat sprays such as Chloraseptic Spray help numb the throat -- maybe long enough to wolf down some scrambled eggs and steak.

Good luck and God bless you in your recovery!

I had my tonsils out at the age of 27 and got along quite well. The following week, my father died, and a few weeks after that, I learned I was pregnant with my first child.my father's first grandchild.

Whew, the best pain reliever.oxycodine.u should have gotten a prescription

I use beer for that sort of thing. Maybe aspirin. Ibuprofin. Get some oxycontin or something if they will prescribe it for you. Also, lots of sleep, rest, distracting with good movies maybe. Ice cream is nice and cold on it and might help too.

Lots of ice cream! That's what I got and it really soothed the pain. Good luck and a speedy recovery!

Suck on ice chips. Ice cream will work but make you fat. a couple of paracetemol and ice cream and cold things. will only be sore for a few days.

Eat ice cream. Drink lots and lots of fluids. Suck on ice cubes. Gargle with salt water (but don't sallow it) Put some salt on ice cubes and suck on those. Don't eat hard sharp foods like potato chips.that'll hurt like heck. Suckers are good. Soup is good for you as well. Applesauce will feel funny but it is good. And easy mac is good too!

Ice cream is great, other than that, a topical numbing agent like Lidocaine can help - when I had a really bad case of Strep Throat that was something my Doctor prescribed for me.

Hope you feel better soon!

Keep your throat moist by sucking Popsicles or crushed ice, drink plenty of fluids even if it hurts. I found that ice cream only made it hurt more later so Popsicles worked best. Also
do not use a straw to drink with, it causes you to draw in air and fluids that cause stretching and more excess movements that irritates the sore tissue in the throat.
Take any pain meds the DR. prescribes an at the right times, don't allow the med to wear off totally.
Lots of soft foods and jello, mashed potatoes. KFC has great mashed n gravy.
