Other Answers:
It depends on the level of care that my loved one required. There are lots of excellent facilities that can care forpeople who need it, and being a full-time care provider can be an overwhelming and exhausting prospect. By placing someone in a quality facility you might be helping everyone involved including yourself and your loved one. You can still be very involved with that person's life and see them as often as they need.
Also, most cases of elder abuse occur when family members are just too stressed out or hurt their loved one by accident. Nursing homes are among the most regulated industries and are very safe and usually caring environments. Just make sure you choose one that seems to fit well to you. If you have any concerns call your ombudsmen (the people who watch out for patients' rights)
