if i leave staples in my head for too long is it bad?

Question: i have 4 staples in my head because of cuts, and the doctor said to get them out in 10 days, but i have an appointment on the 11th day of me having them, is it bad that i will have them in for a day longer?

Answers:
one day longer is just fine. if you go for a week or two longer is when you would have a problem b/c your skin would start to grow over the staples, mistaking them as being a permanent part of your body.

i work in trauma icu and several of our patients have staples-we sometimes have to leave them in a few days longer than expected-you'll be just fine....
