I have already been to the doctor yesterday, but I have a question about fever??

Question:
I went to the doctor yesterday for a fever that I could not explain. It's been over 101' for 3 days now. I told him I was having trouble eith my right eye, and I thought it might be pink eye..well, he checked my nasal cavitites and sai that I have allergies, and an infection in my eye. He prescribed me antibiotics, and I am still running a high temperature, what home remedies could help bring my temperature down. also, he said I would continue to run fever for a few days, but I am so sick of feeling ill, I can't wait that long? Would soaking in something help , like rubbing alcohol or something? Help, I'm miserable, and tylenol isn't cutting it!!

Answers:
It takes a bit for antibotics to kick in. In the meantime, cool baths, tylenol, and being patient should work. Yes it's annoying but it will work in time.

I seriously suggest you get a second opinion!

first learn hoe to spell 2 maybe it is what u r eating 3 go back to the docter for some real advice and use that medicine the docter gave u Awwww poor aweetie,

I know how you feel. BUT the fever is actually a good thing.. It means that you have an infection and your body is fighting it.. Hang in there, It will get better. Please don`t put anything in your eye the doctor did not give you.. Your eyesight is so important. Nothing to play around with..

God bless and hugs from Texas. {:-)

Ibuprofen Running a fervor is good. It will hasten the effects of the antibiotics to do its job.

My dr. prescribes ibuprophen then 2 hours later tylenol. It works. You can call your dr. and ask for exact dosage, but my dr. has me take 400 mg of ibuprophen then 2 hours later 400 mg of tylenol. Also cool baths. I know this sounds weird but my aunt peels a potato and takes the peels and puts them in ice, when they get cold put them on your forehead until they get warm. It works! My son had a high temp as a baby and we tried it on him and his fever was gone in less than 20 minutes.

how old are you?
taking tylenol(R) for your age and weight and alternating it with motrin(R) every 4 hours will help reduce the fever.drinking plenty of clear liquids (gatorade(R), tea, water, juices (no orange) no milk, and maybe standing in a tepid shower (not too hot nor too cold) will help wick the heat off your skin.
allergies and pink eye will not cause a fever.any other complaints like burning when you pee, cough, stomach ache.
sometime it takes 48 hours for the antibiotics to kick in as well..be sure to take them until they are completed unless your doctor tells you otherwise.this helps prevent drug immunity

Never rub alcohol on your body when you have a fever, you can die from it. Finish your antibiotics if you still have fever go back to doc. The only home remedy would be to take Tylenol and wipe yourself down with cool water and rest.

Fevers are the bodies way of killing infections and foriegn bodies. Fevers are good as long as they aren't too high otherwise your body will begin to boil your proteins and enzymes and your body will shut down.

As for remedies.
-Ibuprofen
-Drink as much water as you can in order to replace fluid loss. It will
also help to bring down body temperature.
Rest as much as possible.

Avoid suddenly changes in atmospheric temperatures.

Avoid eating solid foods until the fever is gone. You can replace the foods by drinking plenty of distilled water and/or juices.

when you have fever do not take any supplement containing either iron or zinc. Taking iron causes great tension in a body that is fighting infection; and zinc is not absorbed by the body when you have fever.

Take cool bathes, fill a bath tub, submerge and lay down for 5' approximately. Repeat as needed until the fever is down.
