How do you get rid of a deep cough and sore throat without going to a Doctor the holistic way?

Question:
Nature's way only no prescription drugs or doctors visit

Answers:
If you have a cough related to cold or flu, and it's a wet cough, try Mucinex to make the cough productive. For the sore throat, I really recommend Fisherman's Friend lozenges - they taste gross though.

If you're near a health food store get some slippery elm root (it should be in a powder form), mix it with a little honey and warm water to form a gummy paste, and you can eat it. It's great for sore throats. If not, you can try the old standbys of warm salt water, and/or honey and lemon tea.

If you want to try herbal remedies, you can also try horehound, coltsfoot, and/or angelica tincture. (Don't use the angelica if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant.) You could also take echinacea/goldenseal capsules - be sure not to exceed the recommended dose. This won't make you *feel* better, but it will help get rid of your cold.

If you're into homeopathy there are several homeopathic remedies for cough and/or sore throat.

If your cough/sore throat is caused by smoking, none of these will work, nor should they be used. Instead you should quit smoking. (Which you should do anyway, if you do.)
gargle with warm water and salt. make sure the water has been boiled and cooled down.
