Sounds like sleep apnea. It can be very dangerous. You need to get to a dr. as soon as possible. It can be fatal (if this is what you have), but, luckily can be easily controlled with sleep apnea apparatus.

i'm not a doctor but it sounds like you have a sleep disorder known as sleep apnea. go to your doctor/clinic and they can better diagnose the problem, if its a sleep diorder they may refer you to a sleep disorder clinic

id have to say sleep apnea...your best bet is to go get it checked if it is that it is seriouse and you might not wake up...so go get it checked asap

go see your doc. tell them what happened, tell them everything going on such as when it started happening, if it is painful, etc) ask for a referal to a doctor specializing in sleeping disorders. ask that doc for a sleep study.
It could be sleep apnea and it may not be. Usually one who has sleep apnea does not know they have it they wake up hundreds of times in a night because they stop breathing not because they can't.
If you have a cold or allergies talk with your doc about an expectorant.
If you end up having sleep apnea then you will be given a machine called a CPAP machine. it provides constant air pressure to that your getting air even when you stop breathing at night with a disorder like sleep apnea.
So go get it checked out, worst that can happen if you see a doc is that you start sleeping better at night.
