self injury and pimples?

Question:
I scratch and pop zits on my face. Sometimes, when a pimple is really large, all I can think about is popping it! I am not satisfied until I feel like I have removed it from my skin - even if it leaves a scar. Worse, sometimes I pick at the scar. Am I a "cutter" or someone who self injures?

Answers:
I do the same exact thing--except I create bumps from picking where none were orig. i pick if i feel the slightest raised area or flaw... spots show up after i picked and picked....so then i feel like i have to pick more to get rid of them(endless cycle).I do this on my arms mostly. It's really frustrating because there seems like there's no end to all the picking......However, you're not a cutter. (luckily). I tend to cut from time to time---and it is definitely not fun. Skin picking is sometimes referred to as Dermatillomania or Compulsive Skin Picking. Mine is due to Borderline Pers. Disorder and OCD. hope we can quit all this picking and whatnot someday. here's a website or 2 you might wanna check out:

I don't think you are a "cutter" just got some sort off pimple popping disorder going on over there ... but your not trying to hurt yourself you are just trying to get something off of your skin that doesn't usually go there

You are not a "cutter" (cutters actually use objects to cut their body) I am not a doctor, but I wouldn't say you are a "self injurer" either. But, you do have some issues about your face and having pimples, that need some attention from a doctor! I would think that it is a type of compulsive disorder. Seeking help would be your best route...do not be embarrassed there are other people out there that feel and have the same issues.

I highly recommend talking to your parents (if you are under age) or someone that will support you and talk to you about it, so you can get the appropriate help.
