I have a funny feeling going on in my chest. What should I do?

Question:
I have a funny feeling in my chest and it is stiff. When I stretch it, it is still stiff. I also took some pain reliever medicine for that. Did anyone have that kind of problem? If so, what should I do?

Answers:
Go to the doctor first off!!

Secondly, update your question and let us know how old you are!!

Thirdly, do you have any other stiffness in your back, shoulders, knees??? When you breathe, does it feel like your rib cage is constricted???

What you are describing can be asymptomatic of the arthritic condition Ankylosing Spondylitis. I should know, I have it too! I was thinking the same thing you are when I first came down with symptoms... I was like, wow, what's going on with my chest?? Am I having a heart attack? I felt like I was wearing a corset and it ached like crazy around my sternum and between my ribs... It's miserable!!

Ankylosing Spondylitis is a genetic arthritic condition that is identified by a gene marker - HLA-B27! If you do have it, you will have HLA-B27 in your blood!

The best thing to do is to take a hot bath or shower!!! That will stop some of the stiffness and take some ibuprofen! Go swimming, that seems to help too.

But firstly, go to the doctors and see what's up! You may have injured yourself and not known it!!

Since you didn't say how old you are, I will tell you that most people start getting symptoms of A.S. in their late teens to early thirties! I got mine at 25!
You don't give your age, however, it could be cardiac related. My son was 15 and although we were pretty sure it wasn't cardiac related, the school sent him to the hospital and ultimately to a cardiologist who decided it was growing pains.
