What works better for large cuts, and why... Rubbing Alcohol, or Hydrogen Peroxide?
Question:
Answers:
Wash the area with Betadine. This is a solution you can get over the counter. It is the solution used to prep a surgery site to keep the wound from getting infected. This may or may not work because it sounds like you have the beginnings of an infection already. Alcohol while good, will burn terribly. Peroxide is very good and should help but still all in all, you need to see about the infection. You may need to take something by mouth to rid you of this problem.

I know the peroxide is supposed to help ward off infection or something like that...not sure if you should use it on a large cut though. DO NOT put rubbing alcohol on it, unless you wish to be in a lot of pain!
Antibiotic ointment. Clean are with saline, dry throughly, apply ointment apply bandage. Keep it covered. Elevate extremity for swelling,
Note: Alcohol is very drying to the skin. Perixide needs to be washed out afterwards. Just use saline....doesnt sting and can use a clean gauze bandage for wiping.
soap and water, both of the others damage tissue, bandage it then go see a doctor before it gets too infected $40 at the anytime people vet
Probably hydrogen peroxide, and afterwards, band aid it and wrap some cloth around ur ankle tight so it can control bleeding. then keep ur leg elevated. if bleeding continues, go to the hospital for stitches.
Peroxide only washes out the impurities to clean the wound. Alcohol kills any infection that may be in there. If your foot is swelling without discoloration, raise your foot and use ice to reduce the swelling and be sure to cover your wound to protect it from further infection. An antibiotic cream will help it heal quicker. If the swelling is also accompanied by discoloration, you should let a doctor look at it to prevent serious complications. Hope that helps!
Hydrogen peroxide is generally better of the two, but Neosporin or the generic equivolent is best. You didn't say how old this cut is. The fact that your foot is swelling is not a good sign. If it's been a while since you cut it, you need to see a doctor.
Large cuts sometimes need stiches. Elevate your foot when you can to make the swelling subside.
peroxide will be better because rubbing alcohol is just for itching and bug bites not for cuts you might want to try an antibiotic to make your immune sytem stronger so the cut will heal faster
