Change of taste while taking topamax for migrane headaches?

Question:
I have lost the taste of carbonation in soda and beer while taking topamax for migranes. Just wondering if that is permanent while on the med?

Answers:
I am on Topamx for my migraines. I got the tingling in my fingers (not my toes), I have lost close to 20 lbs (that is ok as i wanted to anyhow), and I have found that certain drinks with carbonation taste metallic. I can no longer stand the taste of any colas, orange soda, and some root beers. I have been on the Topamx for 6 months now. The tingling has stopped, the taste has not returned, I still find that my appetite is decreased, and I am NOT having the DAILY headaches and migraines... So I will suffer with not having some of the carbonated drinks and not have the headaches, seems like a fair enough trade to me.
i thought topamax was for bipolar disorders....
