How can I be sure my doctor needs me to take a test or if it is for generating money? Confronted need 2 make $

Question:
How can I be sure my doctor needs me to take a test or is it money generated? Patient was asked to come back in a week and have blood pressure checked. She did and the nurse said, "You better see the doctor". She did. The doc said to keep taking the pills and come in again in a week and have it checked. It took 30 seconds of her time. A bill arrived for$70. She did not have it checked in a week but on her next regular visit she told the doctor I did not come in because I was charged $70. That is too much money to have it checked. The doc said, "We have to make money">Us CASH COWS change docs but the next one is about the same. He/she may send us to different specialists every time we go for an appointment. I have been charged for a student to come in. I no longer give permission since it costs me.

Answers:
First of all if you don't trust your Doctor you shouldn't use him. I feel most are fair and concerned about your health. People are living longer today because of all the tests, new surgeries and medication. There is always exceptions to the rule so if you feel unsure check around. There are good ones out there. Good luck.
doctors are covering their butts by having tests, in an effort not to be sued for mal practice. sometimes its needed and lots of times its not, i go to the military, so they tell me to check my bp at walmart or the drug store. they are fairly accurate.
