Lately I have been waking up at night and my whole scalp is asleep. Is this something to be worried about?

Question:
Ok, lately at night I have been sleeping and I will wake up and my whole head is asleep. I think it is that my whole scalp is asleep. It is really weird and it scares me. I have to wake it up by hitting it and massaging it. This has happened to me before and I was wondering if this is something to be worried about. I dont have insurance so if it isnt serious I dont plan on getting it checked out. I would really love a doctors advice on this if their are any on yahoo questions.

Answers:
You are possibly using too many pillows. Regardless, you are undergoing some form of cervical compression which is creating an anesthetic response to the nerves of the scalp. You may find relief by simply placing your pillow (or a rolled up towel) under your neck, rather than your head.

Blood supply to an area is not a part of the sensory apparatus. So we must remain on the neurological aspect. Which is the factor involved whenever there is loss of sensation.
this is weird...but possible
