What do you call those new endosccopes that can go through your entire gastro-intenstinal tract?

Question:
What is the procedure called? Is it dangerous? Has anyone here had one done?
Thanks!

Answers:
Sigmoidoscopy is an internal examination of the lower large bowel (colon), using an instrument called a sigmoidoscope. I've had it done. No, it doesn't hurt because they give you valium and versed (medications) that, while you are still awake, you don't feel the scope nor will you remember it later.
Are you talking about the actual scopes? The EGD's go down your throat and examine your esophagus and your stomach and a part of your small intestine, not painful at all, I've had multiple ones done. The colonscopy looks at your entire colon (large intestine), not painful but the prep work is a awful. My doctor put me to sleep everytime I've had them.
Or are you talking about the camera pill that goes through your entire system? I've had that done too. The pill is HUGE! I didn't think I could swallow it but apparently I have a big mouth. The doctor said it takes something like a picture every 5 seconds or something. I had to wear this ridiculous looking thing around my waist that acts as a receiver, it transmits the pictures to the receiver and the doctor reads the pictures later. It takes like 8 hours to get thru your entire system and then you poop it out.
There is a capsule that is swallowed, that is actually a tiny camera that takes pics of the small and large colon.
