Have itchy red rash like bites , started on shoulder , now on face down arms and hands?

Question:
has anyone else had this? nurse said allergic reaction! but to what ? started taking an antihistamine yesterday. How long will they take to work?Don't feel ill just stressed cos it's freaking me out .They are like tiny red itchy red spots a bit like chicken pox but it's not that...HELP!

Answers:
I had that in jr. high. Could be combination of climate, stress, allergy, and bug bite. It went away after a week or two but I felt horrible in school. Use some hydrocortizone.
psoriasis?
Dude sounds like body lice.nasty!
could be shingles
Have you been to doc? Are antihistamines a rx? Just Relax sweetie, there are a lot worse things. Like homelessness, loss of a limb, your cat getting run over.your house getting blown up. Start by telling whomever your God is that you are grateful to have roof over head, all fingers and toes, etc.you are guaranteed to feel better about a rash. Just don't touch it, I know that is the hardest part. You will be a-ok, I'll betcha!
Antihistamines normally kick in right away (they take the itch away but will take longer to get rid of the rash)
If it is shingles it would be sore !
Maybe because you are getting stressed about it your making it worse !
I would visit your GP to put your mind at rest x
You should begin to see a change in your rash in a few days. Each day will be a little better. Have you changed your laundry detergent, bath soap, shampoo anything like that? If you have, then I would stop using it and see if that will help also. If it is an allergic reaction like the nurse said, then you NEED to try and find out what has caused it. Good luck and I hope it gets better real soon for you!
it's hard to pinpoint an allergen unless you have a reaction to it immediately. so you could have come into contact with whatever you're now allergic to and not reacted right away.

it could be anything like soaps, detergents, certain types of materials, etc.

an allergic reaction can take up to 48 hours to start disappearing

take warm baths with oatmeal in them to help alleviate the itching (aveeno makes a good oatmeal bath solution).

don't apply any lotions or perfumes to the area.

if the itching continues for longer than 24-48 hours-make an appt to be seen. you could possibly be also allergic to the medication they gave you to treat the rash.

report to the e.r immediately if you begin to have trouble breathing or your throat becomes severly itchy and feels like it's going to close.
Relax.don't freak out. I bet you ate something out of the norm recently. Yes?

I hope it is this simple. If not, still relax..you stressing out will agrivate it.

Good luck!
Could be fleas or allergic reaction to a soap! Change your bed linens every week and vacuum the mattress too it could be in your bed. I did have a wicken wash my clothes in Brillo pads for a while that really aggravated my skin. I wash my own clothes now. Its a simple solution look around.
Do you have any other symptoms besides the rash? For example, shortness of breath or wheezing? Tightness in the chest, swelling of the throat, tongue, lips, eyelids or face? A fever? If it is just a rash, then it is likely just an allergic reaction such as a contact dermatitis. Something as simple as using a new shampoo or laundry soap could be the culprit. However if you have any of the other symptoms I mentioned, I would seek immediate medical attention. All the best to you!
sounds like shingles
Sounds like eczema. If it is eczema you can have it for years. Try FreeDermHC. It worked on my son.
it looks like you have got scabies, which itch like mad, but its easy sorted with visit to the doc or pharmacist, but it is very contagious, so do not let anybody use your towels etc.
dont think it will be scabies that doesnt affect ur face, sounds like psoriasis but best get it checked over by a doc
could be shingles.,if its only one side of the body..all thebest
Try not to do anything to aggravate the rash.
Have a tepid shower and wear smooth fabric next to your skin.

Keep taking the tablets, they will be kicking in fairly soon.If you get no relief soon check with the chemist who dispensed your prescription.

The main problem with allergies is that it is frequently not the first time we come into contact with them that the reaction is produced. First contact merely sensitises you.

DO NOT DO ANYTHING RADICAL WITHOUT CHECKING WITH A QUALIFIED MEDICAL PERSON.
It could be an allergic reaction, but from your description it sounds more like Shingles, especially as it's caused by the same virus as Chicken Pox.

Check this page to see if the description fits your symptoms at all:
