why do insect bites itch?

Answers:
ok coz they r forgin bodies so body react to them releasing cytokines histamines and prostaglandines wich coz allot of effects like blood vessel dilation .... and nerve endings stimulation causing itching

because they are breaking the skin and infection or germs try to set in right away!
The insects like mosquitoes inject saliva into the wound they create to stop blood clotting. That saliva is something we react to and that is what causes the itching.
Insects like lice, scabies and mites eat and leave feces in the skin. This is something that is also strongly reacted against by the immune system.
Redness and itch are 2 reactions to the antigens present.

the venom it injects when it bites u, can b an allergic reaction just mild if it itches
