make sure your diagnosis is finalized.. for pain ,, medications or hot packs will help,, you might be given a brace to immobilized your spine for a while until its healed,, and you must maintain proper body mechanics to prevent injury,,, consult your a doctor especially orthopedic doctor
Compression fractures can be completely asymptomatic. They can occur due to a number of factors, like osteoporosis, trauma, spinal diseases, etc. Sometimes nothing is done if it only involves one vertebrae and you are otherwise healthy. Sometimes surgery is needed to shore up the spine in the area of the compression fracture to avoid putting pressure on the spinal cord. I would speak with your doctor about treatment options. If you are at risk for osteoporosis (yes, men can get it too) then you need to address this too.

If you are older than say 50, a little slip and fall can cause it but you sound younger so I would suspect that you may have fell down stairs, or was in a car accident. What actually happened to your spiine is that the vertebra that make up your spine (which have a "disc" between them) were impacted together - as if someone put you in a vice grip and the outcome was your last thoracic vertebra t12 crushed under the pressure. I guess the disc is okay because you didnt mention any paralysis but you had to have a serious impact to cause this injury. Think of crushing a soda can in your hand, that's what happened to the vertebra in your back. I hope your injury is that simple. Other causes could be more serious like bone cancer. Ouch! I work for a chiropractor and there are many things that they can do for you. You should try and see one just to see what he says. But then again, I'm partial.
i haven't had it but i've treated patients with them.they were older and the cause was falls. If its an option.a vertebroplasty can work wonders.I don't know the exact procedure, but it's kind of like they inject a glue like substance into your vertebrae and it just holds the fracture together like super glue.good luck
