should i wear a tennis elbow brace during my workout even though i don't feel any pain?

Question:
I developed tennis elbow through boxing. I would like to return to the activity (I haven't done it in a week). I don't feel pain, so would it be a waste to buy elbow braces?

Answers:
As the injury was only a week ago, I would use the braces for a few weeks and see how it feels.

Don't become reliant on the braces - braces can actually make you weaker. If there is an underlying problem that needs treatment, ask your doctor for a referal to a good physical therapist.

Tennis elbow problems, in my experience, can be due to weak triceps. There is often a lot of scar tissue due to microtrauma on the outer bone of the elbow, called the lateral epicondyle, or on the tendons that attach to that bone. A good physical therapist should be able to determine if any problems like that are present or if there are other issues.

Good luck!
