White spot on back of throat (left side)?

Question:
I've got a white spot on the back left side of my throat, I just noticed it this morning because I felt like something was stuck in my throat. I had a look, its about the size of a pen nib, doesn't hurt and feels a bit like sand paper when I swallow. Does anyone know what this is? I have heard that it can be food that accumulates in the cavities in your throat.

Answers:
Yes- Tonsilitis is on it's way get to the doc straight away and get some Antiobiotics before it takes hold.
It's just an infection. Not anything bad. I used to get them all the time before I had my tonsils out. Gargle some aspirin and that should get rid of it.
