Why does Neosporin smell like maple syrup?

hmmm- can't say I have ever noticed such a thing, but after reading the answers posted, If I *do ever* smell it and it's maple syrupy smelling, I guess I will pitch it!

Your neosporin is old. After the tube is open for 6 months it loses its antibiotic strength.

Definitely a problem with your neo and not your smeller. Maybe something about the smell of neosporin just reminds you of maple syrup. The olfactory sense is the strongest tied to memory. The smell of a skunk always reminds me of ganja smoke.
