I don't...never had...ever since I started working many years ago. I have a medical savings account.why pay someone money when you hardly see a doctor.I would rather invest my money and keep it..so far it's working out just fine.
I do. Your question, I don't know.
I have seen figures recently that indicate more than 47 million Americans are without health care coverage. I do not have the exact figure thought.
According to a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) study, between 20 and 30 million people are continuously without insurance during a single year. Another 30 million people go without insurance at some point during the year. So that means that about 50 or 60 million people are not insured at a given time, but that about 20-30 million are chronically uninsured. These numbers are probably a low estimate because of people not admitting they are uninsured because of social stigma. The most common reasons people said they did not have insurance was because of cost (71 percent) coupled with the lack of access to employer-sponsored insurance (61 percent).
As for the number of people who are underinsured (don’t have enough insurance), that number varies too widely to afford any reliable perspective apart than there are way too many Americans without health insurance.
I’ve linked to the CBO study and to a .pdf file from Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality that provides detailed demographic data regarding who has insurance and who does not, including those that are insured through work and through government-sponsored programs.
We spend about three times as much per person on health insurance than any other country. To put that in a better perspective, only Japan, Germany, China, United Kingdom, and France generate more money domestically than the US spends on health care alone. Moreover, the average cost of family health insurance for four is more than the yearly salary for a minimum-wage worker.
I work for a Web site that specializes in putting people in touch with local health insurance agents. The reason I mention it is because looking at the reasons why some people don’t have health insurance is interesting. One of the most common reasons people in their early twenties, for example, don’t have health insurance is that they believe it’s too expensive and not aimed at them – without really checking it out. MostChoice is a great way to find out answers without any cost or obligation to the consumer. All you have to do is fill out a short form, and you’ll get instant quotes and calls from locally licensed insurance agents within 48 hours. Since you’re not obligated to buy anything from the agents, all you have to do is have your questions ready and wait until one of them delivers a plan that’s right for you.

I agree with the HSA.I learned about that after reading the book "Healthcare for Less".I founf this authors blog ver interesting and sooooo helpful! Go to www.healthcareforless.us.her book is even better and you can link directly to it from her website. The current statistic is 70% are either un-insured or under-insured.
