What position does catholic church take on medical marijuana?
Question:
Answers:
I don't think there is much in the Bible specifically about marijuana. Medicinal marijuana is to treat pain and nausea for suffering people. just like morphine and other prescription drugs for pain management. I don't think God, or any religion for that matter, would be against relieving suffering. (I could be wrong, though)
by that logic, god created opium, so we all should be shooting heroin.
To the best of my knowledge the Church has not made a position known.
The Church teaches that citizens must obey all legitimate laws of the community in which they live.
Citizens are obliged in conscience not to follow the directives of civil authorities when they are contrary to the demands of the moral order, to the fundamental rights of persons or the teachings of the Gospel.
The scientific, legal, and philosophical debate is still out on medical marijuana as is shown in the attached documents.
With love in Christ.
They are "good" in the sense that the plants growing from said seeds are not, in and of themselves, evil in any way. But that does not mean some of these plants cannot be put to evil means, such as drug abuse. Drug abuse is contrary to the concept of 'loving thy self', therefore illicit use of drugs is a sin.
Marijuana use is okay so long as it is medicinal. All other uses of marijuana, and let's face it - there are no other morally proper uses - constitutes sin for reasons I detailed in the above paragraph.
