Splinter in your finger - ok to leave it where it is?

Question:
If you have a splinter in your finger, is it ok to leave it where it is?

It doesn't hurt and it's only noticable by sight.

Will it get infected if it's left there? It's been there for 3 months ish so far.

Answers:
You should try to get it out. Bathe it in warm very salty water which should draw it out or you can buy magnesium sulphate paste from the chemist which you spread thickly over the affected area and cover with a dry dressing, this also draws it out. Keep doing this until it comes out. The splinter must have been clean otherwise you would have had an infection by now. If it doesn't come out or if an infection starts you will need to see a doctor or nurse who can get it out. Are you sure its still there?

Other Answers:
yeah, it will come out on it's own
no get it out
After 3 months you start to worry? Strange fellow you are.

If it has been there that long and no problem don't mess with it. Take to aspirin and ask again in 3 months.
it is okay it will naturally work its way out
soak your finger in warm water. The splinter should swell up, making it easier to remove with tweezers.

My mum used to sterilise a needle with a flame and then try to tease it out.

Apparently putting honey on it does the same as the warm water.
yeah no problem- its a 'foreign object' so will eventually be rejected by your body...
Swallowed a penny when I was a kid.
Showed up on a stomach xray, and it lodged in there
somewhere. Never gave me trouble.
Don't worry about your splinter, it will either works its way
out of your body, or just stay put. If it really bothers you,
have a doctor remove it...its very simple to do.
Good luck !
Heat up a needle 'til it's red hot and use it to pick away at the splinter. It won't hurt. After you get it out treat the wound with iodine and it should be ok.
I dont think its a splinter, sounds like a blood blister, and just leave it be it will go away in due time, if it were a splinter you would ave a foreign body in your system and you would know by radness, swelling, pain.... then you should apply some Iodine, or Icoprophil alcohol (rubbing) and if you cant extract it, it WILL work its way out soon.
Of course not.If it is deep enough,It might travel thru your blood stream and after five years you will end up having myocardial infarction....do u want that...huh??HUH?3 MONTHS?GOLLY!
plez take it out with the help of a narrow bamboo twig or a needle that doesn't seem rusted..
Do not leave any foreign body under you skin especially in your finger. It will be safer to take it out now rather than wait for something to happan later on.
You can let it stay in there and come out naturally I think if there was going to be an infection you would already have one.
If you do want to get it out painlessly then go get some Epsom salts and make a little paste on a band aid and apply to the area this should draw it out. Or you can see if someone in your area sells Watkins products and get some Petro Carbo salve and put that on it. You can use the Petro Carbo salve on a lot even bee stings it is a drawing salve
Good Luck
hey abt that splinter first of all if u have a splinter in ur finger its a foreign particle which has enteted ur body and teh body reacts to any foreign particle which enters the body, if u keep it in the body u may end up having a sore finger
It'll come out on it's own
no best to remove it they don't come out on there own and hurt if stay in
be brave and get it out. otherwise it will get infected and hurt like hell!!!!!!
