I just got my blood test result. Doctor told me my WBC is 11.6?
Question:

CHOL/HDL 8.97
LYMPH 20.1

She wants to have my blodd test again in 2 weeks to see If I am in regular levels. Most of my concern is my WBC level.. I am 32 years old male and smoker.
Any feedbacks on WBS level and advice?
Thanks
Answers:
you should worry about that cholesterol/lipid panel more. but your triglycerides are in good shape but getting near the borderline level.
maybe you have a head cold.. or an allergy.. to something those white level is up but not real bad.
what did the doc say?
drink some orange juice.. water.. eat more greens. before the next panel.
see what happens.
WBC normal levels are 5000 to 10,000 ish.
you're not too high.. just relax, cut out the stress and improve the diet a tad.. maybe cutting that smoking out will help also.
with many things in this panel.
you're not doing too bad, actually.. cept for a couple things i mentioned.
actually the wbc may be considered a high end of normal range. but of course the doc may keep and eye on that. they usually do for precautionary reasons.
oh cutting out that cola a bit may help with your trigylceride levels and some of the cholesterol levels.
i would say it depends on that labs testing limits. but for the hospital i work at it would be considered the high end of normal
Normal Values for WBC
4,500-10,000 white blood cells/mcl (cells per microliter)
also expressed as 4.5 - 10 x 10^9 cells per liter.
Your 11.6 seems a little high.
What abnormal results mean
High numbers of WBCs (leukocytosis) may indicate:
infectious diseases
inflammatory disease (such as rheumatoid arthritis or allergy)
leukemia
severe emotional or physical stress
tissue damage (for example, burns)
anemia
WBC (white blood count) is a broad category and is broken down into a differential of parts that make up the WBC. You would need to know these numbers. Your MD should have them. Usually a normal WBC level is on average of 5K to 10K (levels can differ at different laboratories) It is one indicator of infection process. But can also be slightly increased with stress, inflammation etc..again you need to know the differential to know if you have an infection somewhere. It is not that high, trust your doctor. I'd be more concerned with you cholesterol level. You either need to change your diet or start on some low dose medication. Just my opinion. You HDL is too LOW. Eat better and raise this level. It will lower your Chol/HDL, which at 8.97 is an elevated level and risk factor for heart disease.
I wouldn't worry about it at this time, the normal for WBC is 4000-11000. It is a bit high, it might be due to infection. The follow up test is probably to see what type of WBC is elevated. If the basophils and eosinophils are elevated then its probably an allergic reaction to something, they destroy parasites and are increased during an allergic reaction. If the lymphocytes and monocytes are elevated then its probably infection related, they are increased when they are fighting some sort of infection in your body. When your WBC are very high (15000+) that is when you have can start to get a little worried; discussions come up about leukemia and whatnot. My mom's WBC was 22000 but she did end up having leukemia. But again, yours are SLIGHTLY high and I don't think leukemia is something to worry about. Its probably infection, considering the time of year with colds and stuff going around and you are a smoker so that increases a white cell count and certain medicines and stress can also increase it.
