What causes an ear infection?

Question:
hi can you tell me what causes an ear infection?many thanks

Answers:
ear infection could be caused by many factors. sometimes too much water in the ear from swimming, or generally from getting water in your ear and it gets trapped or some people are just more likey to catch infections. any infection in general involves either bacteria or virus. bacterial infections can be treated with antibiotics, viral once are usually difficult to treat because we haven't yet got anti virus that kill viruses. if you do not see the Dr, there is a possibility that your body fight the infection, but the pain associated with the infection sometimes is too difficult to deal with. my advise is to take painkiller for now specifically ibuprofen as its an anti inflammatory and book an appointment to see the dr. ASAP.
Usually blockage of eustachian tube
Bacteria If you dont see a doctor you will probably get a perforated eardrum as the pressure builds leaving you with deafness and/or a discharge from the ear.
Get it seen to, it will be a 5 min examination and a few days on antibiotics, no big deal!
Most ear infections are fungal, bit like athletes foot. You had that and then put your finger in your ear, that will do it.
They can be caused by a virus or bacteria. Antibiotics only work on bacterial infections.
Listening to dirty music!....you bad bad person!..shame on you!
Swimming in water that contains bacteria. I got it because I swam in a lake that had goose poop. You can go into a dirty lake just don't go under water.
Go to the docs, you will need antibiotics to clear it up, and it won't go without antibiotics. You may have caught it from someone, its an infection.
can u repeat the question
Nagging wife.
Everything that sweetdreams say plus a neglected throat infection.
wax in your ear causes pain not drying them properly.until you see a doc get some almond oil from chemist , boil the kettle put some water into a cup, get a teaspoon put it in and out of water to heat the spoon not burning hot just lukewarm pour oil onto spoon leave it for a second long enough to be lukewarm, then tilt head pour into ear masaging earlob gently put some cotton wool into ear just to stop it the oil runing out of ear, and a hot water bottle helps soothe the pain all the best works for me.
