Has the improvement in medicine placed mankind at an advantage?
Question:
Answers:
short-therm yes, But I don't think in Long therm ( sort of thousands of years) mankind will survive
I guess so. People are living longer because of it, depends on whether you think that an advantage or not!
No, but our exploitin every other organism in the world has put us temporarily there. But as with all the dominant species, things must swing around eventually.
Ultimately, medical technology works against natural selection by allowing those less fit, more prone to disease and injury etc. to survive. We allow people with bad genes to survive and pass on their bad genes, weakening the entire race.
Unfortunatly, any effort to change this is called eugenics and leads to being compared to Nazis.
it depends how you look at it. people live longer, which could be good, but that means more money that nursing homes and stuff need that they arent getting. then there is overcrowding in cities. unless people start spreading out a little more, then we wont have enough space for everyone. we'll need more housing, which means destroying natrual habitats so animals have nowhere to live, then there will be a lot of extinct species. then the whole food web would collapse. i think maybe if we found out how to live underground, underwater, or in space, then it could be a good thing. until then, its causing more problems then it's solving.
