Are there any women out there that have gained weight after having a hysterectomy?

Question:
Yesterday I had to go to the dr. and have a mole removed and
while I was there I told her that I have put on approx.15 pounds over the past 2-3 months even though my food habits had not changed (only eating 1-2 times dailey or 5-6 very small meals) and trying to walk every night if possible. Well she told me that it is caused from the hysterectomy I had in December of 05. So if there are any women out there willing to talk about if you gained weight after your hysterectomy and how or if you were able to lose it. I know 15 pds are not much but I don't know if I will just keep gaining. I just had lost 20 pounds before the surgery. Please serious readers an answers only. Thank-You

Answers:
I had a hysterectomy in 2001. I had lost almost 150 pounds before I had it, and slowly gained back almost 80 pounds over a year's time.

I have lost 63 of those pounds. Part of the problem was water retention, and since starting fluid pills they have helped. I am also on a low fat, low cholesterol, low sodium diet due to elevated cholesterol and triglycerides, which had nothing to do with the hysterectomy. But by being conscious of the problem, you can catch it now before it gets out of hand. Watch what you eat. Small meals are great, but if they are full of fat or empty calories you are defeating yourself.

The best answer I can give you is read labels. On everything. If you don't know what's in something, ask. And enlist your doctor's help in a sensible diet and exercise plan that will help you take the extra pounds back off while there are only 15 to lose.

Good Luck!
i had a hysterectomy in 2001 and have gained weight but the weight doesnt just cling to me as i pass it by its because of what i eat if you write down what you eat and the times you eat and not cheat about the serving size. you can see what you are really doing once its written out. If you assume you are diabetic whether you are or not walk for 45 minutes and eat 5 x a day small meals you will lose weight no matter what surgeries you have had in the past.
