What's the best way to eiminate rough patches on elbows?

Question:
Regular hand lotion hasn't helped.

Answers:
It helps to know the likely causes of the problem in order to eliminate those factors; eg. friction from leaning on elbows on harsh surfaces such as carpets, desks, grass, sheets washed with bleach, harsh soaps, etc. Frequently the likely cause is not readily apparent so one tries to eliminate the symptom by using effective moisturizing creams and serum concentrates. It is often helpful to soak the elbows 2 or 3 times a day in a small amount of warm water with liquid dish soap in it to soften the skin. There are numerous serum concentration products on the market put out by all of the major skin care companies such as NIVEA, NEUTROGENA, DOVE,EUCERIN, etc.(Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair Body Creme is a good example). Remember to clean the skin first (no harsh soap) before applying the skin creme and apply the creme 3 or 4 times a day. Some people prefer using Aloe products or fresh oil from the Aloe plant and other people have found that Hydrocortisone Cream 1% is very helpful. If these over the counter suggestions do not work for you, it is time to see your physician or Dermatologist for their professional opinion. Hopefully these suggestions will be of help.
You can cut lemons in half and rub them on your elbows, I've heard that works.
