Hospitals...Dirty and Unhealthy?

Question:
As a Registered Nurse since 1990 I think that my question's answer is yes. What do you think.

Years ago when you were in a hospital for longer than 5 mins, everyone else you met that day would smell it off your clothes.....you could spend a year in a hospital without leaving, and that would never happen today!

Answers:
As a student nurse I would tend to agree but I think it depends on the Trust. I have lived in Glasgow where some of the things I saw would make your wee toes curl!!!!!!

I now live in Newcastle and the majority of the wards I have seen are very clean.

The problem i feel lies with the contracting. Once a part of time the domestic would have been an intergral part of the nursing team on the ward and would have worked shifts both early and late.

Now your lucky if they work for two hours but agian this depends on the policy of the hospital.
the hospital my dad works in (royal glamorgan in south wales) is really good and clean (it's quite recently built) but there are some hospitals like Heath hospital and llandough (spelling?) that you can just tell are filthy.
Hospitals need so much more money put in to them, after all, everyone benefits from one!
