This is a question for nurses..how would you handle a situation like. a patient has 2 broken arms and he?

Question:
gets "aroused" is there any protocal; for this type of thing .i mean this as a serious question and not to immpune nurses integrity

Answers:
I had a patient once who had both arms in casts, and wanted me to masturbate him because he couldn't do it himself.

I asked if it was really important that he be masturbated.and he said yes.so I drew the curtains round his bed...

...then went and found a really butch male nurse, and asked him to go and do the job!

It was amazing how fast the patient suddenly realised it wasn't such an urgent need.
Guess he better called his wife/girlfriend because a nurse is not going to do it.
This is what I was tought in my Home nursing program... when it happens in your presence dont make him feel bad or guilty about it just ask him if he needs a few moments alone( so he can deal with it) if he says yes.then lave the room and go back to do your job...if he says no..carry on with your job as you are trained to and are supose to
Justin, I am a registered nurse. The situation that you describe is actually quite common and is generally much more embarrassing for the man than the nurse who is caring for him. After 20 years of nursing, you just aren't shocked by much any more. It is a normal reaction to touch, don't worry about it. Ask the nurse for some alone time things will work themselves out. If you truly do have two broken arms then I would guess that someone else typed this for you. Have a great day.
Simply excuse yourself to another room. If you are in the middle of a treatment, don't draw any attention to the situation. Just finish what you are doing and leave. You do not need to take any "action". Remain professional.
