advise him to drink plenty of water - atleast 8 glasses a day, eat more fibre (bananas, potatoes, bran flakes) and if it is very bad then use suppositories (you get them in boots)
this is medical condition and needs to be solved as soon as possible or it could get really bad and needing operations and keeps getting more and more painful if ignored.
