smash finger in car door,, any medical tips?
Question:
Answers:
Yes. Go to urgent care. Car door injuries can be very serious. Your finger could be permanently injured. Until you can get there, take an ibuprofen and alternate heat and ice.
Other Answers:
ice it and go to the doctor or emergency room
get it xrayed-bones are small in fingers.may prevent later problems with arthritis. until then if swollen, keep cool compresses on it and keep hand elevated if possible. but you really should get it checked by a MD.
don't do it again.
ice it, then go get it x-rayed. if it is cut i suggest stitches. my finger scared, and its relay ugly.
Put some ice on it. Depending on the severity of the injury, you may want to get an x-ray. Other then that not much else to do for a finger. Sorry, hope it feels better.
If you can't bend it, go to the emergency room or urgent care.
I'm not a doctor, but here is what I do. Leave it don't touch it. If it's really bad, and you can't get to the doctor, take 2 popsicle sticks and put 1 on each side of your finger. Now wrap duct tape around your finger. You have just made a finger splint! It works, trust me. Or just go to the doctor. Put some ice on it to prevent swelling.
just suck on it for awhile and it will get better. :)
Just joking, if you think its broken you have to go to a Doc, if you don't think it is, then just put a splint on it and try not to move it to much! OH and ICE.
Emergency room and urgent care for smashing a finger? Please, people! I swear, people will go to the ER/urgent care if they cough 5 times instead of 3. Get a backbone. If you feel it is an emergency, like you can't get circulation back or you cut your finger off, go, but otherwise it is the furthest thing from an emergency that I can think of. I never, ever go to an ER even if my vital organs are not functioning properly, b/c usually, I can fix it myself at home by using my common sense.
I agree with another person. Ice and if finger doesn't move in a natural way..go to doctor. I've done this before and even if you think the finger is okay after swelling has gone down if there was swelling, if the finger doesn't move naturally and normally it might be dislocated at a joint or broken. Pain often means a dislocation when sometimes a break has less pain and isn't really suspected initially.
