How difficult is it to maintain a tattoo? I'm planning on getting one this weekend.?

Question:
and I was curious. It's going to be on my chest, and it'll be about 1.5 inches. It's the symbol from the band A Perfect Circle, if you search the band, it'll come up a bazillion times. What do you think about the placement/design? The circle symbolizes many things: the way everything revolves, chaos vs. control, etc.

Answers:
How classy! Getting a tattoo on your boobs. Oh by the way, I got you some medicine to help you with your herpes. Remember? You were telling me when we were IM'ing how you got herpes. Don't be ashamed a lot of people have it.

Once it's on, leave it alone. There's so special treatment once it heals.

I just got mine 2 week ago. I have it at the back of my neck and I can assure you it hurts terribly. However, there is not much to do to maintain it. nope it might sting a litle but only for a few years. by the way, ur hot.

I haven't done anything to mine in 10 years. It's fine.

You will need a professional skin sucker to keep it lubed. i am willing to volunteer.

Nothing unless it is exposed to sun.. which will fade it after time.. get sunblock on it and you will be great :)

love will change the world

As long as you don't let the skin get dry you should be ok. I've had mine for 5 years, and I don't really do anything special. That's sort of an overdone tattoo, but if you like it go for it. After it's inked you'll want to keep lotion on it for a while (your tattoo artist will give you exact instructions) and not submerge it in water until it heals (showers are okay). After it heals, just keep it out of sunlight or put sunscreen on it (it'll fade, otherwise). Pretty simple stuff.

I have one on my shoulder and it didn't hurt once it was done. Your tattooist will give you instructions on it's care, but you need to wash it a few hours after you get it and take off the covering (I did that at a hospital. Long story and completely unrelated to the tattoo). You'll wash it 2 times a day and put a cream on it (your tattooist should give this to you) several times a day. NEVER use Neosporin in it's place. After a couple of weeks, keep it moisturized with lotion and put sunscreen on it if you have it uncovored. Avoid getting too much sun on it or it will fade.

the tattoo artist should let u know how to take care of ur tatt n if u have ne?s they should give u a # u could reach 'em at

another pretty girl ruined by a TRAMP STAMP! please dont do it ! when will the madness stop!!. You are such a beautiful girl( I looked at your 360) I know it's personal. but why do that to yourself? It is you life, but your chest? Think of your future, think of tomorrow not just today. Think that over 38% of Americans have tats now, don't you want to be something different than all the other mindless sheep who get something that "means something" only to regret it 10 years later.

I have 3 ,The best thing to do after its done .. cover in Savlon and cover with Cling Film . after 12 hours ( when its stopped weeping ) wash in warm water ..and DONT pick the scab..when all healed, stay out of the sun or use a Good sun block.Hope this helps.
Oh my tats are a 12" Tiger a 3" scorpion and a Black Celtic Band

I think you should stop putting so much personal info on line. It's not safe. And why on your chest? Are you going to hang it out so people see it? In 2 years you most likely won't even like the band anymore and will wish you never got it. If you want to honor someone on your chest why not your mom, dad, grandparents? But a band. Free advertising for them. I'm sure your children will enjoy it while breast feeding. Let's think this over. (thinking.).. I like fishing but I'm not going to have one inked on my chest. Well, my husband might like it. (Not) Be original. Be smart. Buy shoes instead. The best advice -- Never get a sunburn on the area of your tattoo. The sun can make a tattoo fade. Just be sure to always put a lot of sunblock all over the whole tattoo area when you go out in the sun or if you ever go to the American River. I live in Newcastle and I see you're in Auburn. It gets hot here, be careful of the sun.

damn, hon that's a lotta add on info. there.. Let me see.. I've got 35 tattoos, hon (I am 53/F) and the first one or two the husband and I got were a ***** to deal with. Seriously, the 'healin part' sucked/hurt worse than getting the actual tattoo! We lucked upon a good treatment. put bag balm on 'em. It's messy as hell, so make sure you don't mind washing clothing, bedding coming in contact w/this stuff.. after you suffer w/one you don't mind the mess. (It's washable, bag balm.) I don't personally care what one gets tattood on.. (I think every tat is beautiful..) I see you got a lotta comments. (Everybody's got to spout off.. hell, it's up to you..) I didn't know about the 'tramp stamp'.. never heard it (gotta tell the husband.) later melancholia
