I have a mark on my shin from a shaving cut that now seems to have scared. Any tips for healing?

Question:
The mark is a dark, purple circle about 3" below my knee on my left leg.

Answers:
You could try something like Mederma, which is a cream that you put on the scar to help make it lighter. BandAid and other brands have patches that you can buy for scars. I think Mederma is one of the cheapest, though. You just have to remember to put it on religiously to start seeing a difference in the appearance of the scar. And it typically takes weeks to notice anything. I have a number of scars (dog bite scar, scar from falling while rollerblading.) and Mederma has worked pretty well so far. How soon you start seeing any result will depend on the size and color of the scar and how long you've have it, but you should notice it fading at least a little if you use whatever you choose as directed.

Other Answers:
buy Mederma. its for scars, it smells like roses and its the BEST
Sounds like that was more than a shaving nick. It sounds like a bruise that hasn't healed. You can rub lemon onto the area and try using honey to moisturize. Good luck!
First check with a dermatologist--
A purple blotch would make me wonder..

After I suffered a severe cutting injury on my left wrist, from a summer job involving operating a ripsaw,I formed a scar, from what my doctor called a "keloid" formation. Some people are more genetically susceptible to keloids, than others.I was age 19.

I've used aloe gel, and vitamin E cream, but really, only Time "heals all wounds".

Suggestion, if you are so inclined?:-
The location sounds like a nice place to have a tattoo.~8~

That might cover it up nicely..
cocoa butter! it lessens the scar.makes it look faded..
use vitamin E oil
Buy neosporin it is an antibiotic that helps heal wounds and minimizes scars, plus preventing infections. But it does sound like a bruise not a scar,if you touch the area right around it and it hurts then it's probably a bruise give it a few days to heal, the purple color means that it's already healing. If it is a bit swollen buy some Epsom salt you can find it at your local pharmacy (over the counter), put the salt in warm water and then put the damp towel over the area, this will alleviate the swelling and help the bruise heal alot faster.
