HELP! How do you permanently remove poison ivy?

Question:
I bought a house approxiametly 3 years ago. I love the outdoors and i love yard work however three summers in a row now I've had posion ivy. It seems each year I find more on my property.I have it every where. Avoiding contact with the spots I knew of was my intial solution however between my dog and myself I seem to have a itchy awful rash each summer. I know you can buy products to kill the plant but I've heard the dead plants can still give you a rash and come back year to year dispite killing it the year before? Besides gettin up close and personal to remove it (I've had enough contact, thankyou) What can I do short and selling the house and buying a new one?

Answers:
Ortho Brush B Gon works wonders in killing poison ivy. You want to spray it and wait a week or two. You can then remove the dead vines, if you wish, while wearing protective clothing.

You may need to spray several times to get rid of all the poison ivy, but it will work!

Other Answers:
keep spraying it until winter time then dig it up.. gotta get the roots up
you might have to dig up that whole area and plant anything else there
I would suggest getting in contact with your local greenhouse to explore alternatives (If you haven't done that already that is). As far as I know the only way to get rid of it is a combination of burning and physical removal. You can get equipment from the greenhouse to do this (it's a wand like thing with a tank). Be sure to wear longsleeves, pants, rubber gloves and boots to avoid contact with the plant. Once they are burned, they will no longer re-grow and your prob should be solved.

Hope that helps!
