I gave blood a few months ago, and now they called me and would like more. Is it safe to assume..?
Question:
Answers:
They sure do
Other Answers:
you are a disease
yes they do and go for it.
I'd ask them for the specifics of what they look for in their tests - but I would say that is a good sign.
I think you're good. Except, now you will receive phone calls from them constantly. My husband is called so much about giving blood that he screens his calls. If you still aren't convinced, go get tests done.
When it comes to your health, it is never safe to "assume" anything. If you believe you could have an STD or other disease, take the high road and get tested at your local clinic.
That being said, yes they do test all blood at least twice. First test is that question/answer session you had with the nurse, second test is chemical analysis with your actual sample.
NO. The blood banks can separate the components and use what's fine. They also test but that's not a complete test for all STDs - it's a screening. Best for you to get tested, if you're concerned. By the way, they will call you often if they need blood, sometimes just to get you in the door. If you have a common blood type as in type O, then the more the merrier. If you have something like type AB neg, very rare - 0.06 percent of population - then you better get on a registry because there's so damn few of you guys around. I donate when there's a specific need like someone's going into surgery. I've been fooled to many times by that call to just simply go because they called.
my hubby is a regular blood donor. by regular i mean he donates every other month ( or thereabouts) it is recommended that one waits 56 days between each donation but my hubby waits 60 days
