Someone commented on arch support, that was my first thought. You can get shoe inserts at any drugstore that help with this. You can also get cushy inserts, which will help if the pain is in your heels or the ball of your foot.
Another thing that can help is standing with a tall posture, and using the muscles in your legs to support you, so your feet don't take all the weight. Knees should be straight, but not locked. Thigh & calf muscles activated. Toes can be lifted a little bit, so you're balanced equally between the ball of your foot and heel. Tailbone should be tucked so your spine can extend up naturally. This has helped me while waiting for the bus. :)
If it's near the heel end of the arch it could be plantar fasciitis commonly known as policemans heel if so you can buy jelly heels that insert into your shoes. Hope this helps.
does the pain warm up after standing few minutes or does it continue? if it warms up it is probable plantar fasciitis, but take a look at a site called myfootshop.com, they have a big library of foot conditions and products to help out with foot pain. if it does not clear up try going to a podiatrist.
