Is generic Darvocet the same as regular Darvocet?
Someone has tried to convince me that generic is not addictive when the name brand is. I thought a generic drug had to be the same in order to be sold in place of the drug, so I said bull. This is an addict so I think it is just a line to get me off their case. It is not even their prescription, so I want to know, are they the same? If they are, what can I do to get them off someone else's meds before they destroy themselves?
whats the worst thing to happen to your privates?

It's not that the active components in generics are different. It's the pill formulation that changes! And of course, that effects how your body digests the pill, how fast/steady it breaks it down, and therefore how the meds are released/absorbed! So, of COURSE generics work differently!
The difference is even bigger in cases like fentanyl patches -- the brand Duragesics use a unique patch formulation that the generics can't copy. So the generics don't stick as well, cause more skin irritation, and may not release the Fentanyl into the system as steadily/efficiently.
Whats wrong with my elbow? please help?
They are the same. That is the easy part.
Addiction is pretty complicated. Tell the person that this is a dangerous behavior and urge them to seek help. Narcotics anonymous might be a place to start.
Don't know how old the person is, but if the person is just a kid you might want to tell his/her parents.
Well yes they are the same just cheaper. Look it up on the net and print it off for your friend. Also tell your friend to get help now because I have seen people that take meds like that and it does not pay. It will take a lot of talking and you cant help someone that wont help themselves. Good Luck
There is absolutely no difference between generic darvocet and the brand name. It is still Propoxaphene and Apap.
Don't let them try to tell you that there is a difference because there is absolutely no difference between the two except for the price.
I started taking Darvocet about ten years ago. Before I knew it i had to go on something stronger because I couldn't get a buzz anymore.
Before I knew it I was on Vicodin and then that wasn't strong enough so I went on Lortab 10/500. Then even that was not strong enough to kill the pain but by then I had a massive drug addiction to Vicodin and any other pain killer that I could get my hands on. If I couldn't get them from the doctor I would get them off of the streets.
I was in the hospital with a bad case of Pnuemonia and was going through drug withdrawels. Thank goodness that I had a good doctor. If you can talk this person into it here is what I did to beat the drug addiction to prescription pain killers.
There is a drug out there called Seboxin. It is to help you detox from Opiates (darvocet) without going through any withdrawels. However it is a very special drug and you have to be able to find a Doctor that is able to prescribe the medication. It cannot be dispensed by you regular doctor.
There are only a handful of doctors that have a license to dispense this drug and it worked wonderfully for me because my biggest fear was detoxing without anything at all and being sick.
Let this person know that they are contributing to killing their liver. It is very important that they get help unless they want to be addicted to prescription painkillers for the rest of their life and that would suck because after you run out then you have to find someone else to get them from. Darvocet is probably the weakest of the painkillers compared to Vicodin but none the less it is still a prescription painkiller. Try to get your friend some help. By the way taking someone elses Prescription is against the law and can be punishable by jail time. The only person that should take it is the person that it is prescribed to.
no, it's weaker but cheaper, got it!?
How do you treat insect and spider bites?
Generic drugs usually have a different filler than the brand name. I can't take generic drugs as I get sick on most. So yes, there is a difference. As for your friend, unless they want the help your fighting a useless battle. Try to get them to a treatment center and maybe if you talk about the pros and cons of drugs it might (or might not) help. Good luck with your friend.
