Lost time injury is an employee/worker injury (not necessarily big injury) caused by any reason at workplace and its consequence is lost work time i.e. work delayed or doubled as a result of this lost time injury incident.
Near Miss is an incident which also not necessarily a violation of safety and/or environmental regulations at the workplace, but can lead to a significant incident of more damage or lost time etc..
Lost Time Injury - Out for more than a day by doctor's orders due to an injury or illness (think Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) which is work related.
