I have 3 bulging disks in my lower back, is this the same as herniated, or slipped disks?
Question:
.anyhow, please help
Answers:
I have been with spine surgeon for 4 years, what is the herniated disc is pushing on? read your mri, is it hitting a nerve root? Sometimes disc injuries will heal on there own, (our doctors say if it doesn't heal in three months it probably wont) but if you get weakness (stand on your tippy toes and see if both heels come up) or bladder issues you need to see a surgeon right away. Do you have leg pain or just back pain? We have a web site that can be helpful to educate yourself on the various treatments and even surgery if it comes to that. www.sciatica.com

Wow I feel for you and it's hard to receive this feedback.. but I have struggled for many many years with chronic degenerated disks and herniated disks as well. There really is no difference between herniated and bulging. Basically, aftger many many doctors, many specialists, neurologists, chiropractors etc.. what has worked best for me iks to walk, stretch and try to regain abdominal strength. For me the extension exercises worked best that is being on my stomach and then doing a press-up. It's very hard at first, but every night I stretched just a little and it made a huge difference in the long run.
Recently, I began working with someone who teaches 'egoscue' exercises. which really works on muscular balance and alignment. Your body is likely compensating so much from being in so much pain that many muscles aren't doing their correct function and everything gets misaligned which prevents the body from healing.
Sometimes the lower back problem can affect the nervous system and indeed cause pevlic issues like bladder congtrol which maybe could lead to secondary infections.
I found that many doctors and therapists just werne't hands on enough and could not provide the needed care -- in and out on to the next patient, and here take some pain meds.. unless they have patients who have given them feedback about what really has helped them, they don't know how to advise. so they focus on getting yhou through the rfeally down and out parts and hope you recouperate on your own.
So I can't stress enough how gentle simple stretching has helped me gain control back of my life and helped me get mobile again which in turn helps the disk get back to proper position and regain proper movement.
Check out egoscue.com --- totally amazing and simple, although you build into the stretching. I feel for you -- keep moving a nd drink water to keep nutrients flowing into the disks.
bulging disk, slipped disk and herniated disk are all the same. i have 3 in the lower back also. Physical therapy helped but you have to keep up with the excersises. also lay flat on your bed, let your feet hang over a little and do push ups but lift only the top half of your body. That really helped me.
Bulging disks are another name for herniated or slipped disks.
WC gives the doctor a % of their regular fee and limits a number of other things that can be done. Keep fighting for what is right!
Hi, I'm in the same boat as you. After being pushed around by Dr's, I finally began reporting them to the American health Association. They are now investigating these "doctors". I have learned so far in a year in a half, that "MOST" doctors, and medical facilitators DO NOT want to deal with workers comp. because they don't pay, and it's lengthly. That is why I'm fighting and calling on politicians in my area and nearby areas. I did recieve help from one. you definately need a lawyer, one YOU trust. Let him/her know you are tired of the run around, also let the commissioner of workers compensation know this to. What ever you do DON'T GIVE UP! That's exactly what the insurance company wants. I have a spinal injury in my L5 & L4, bulging, herniated, slipped, as far as I understand are all the same. I am experiencing the same symptoms you are. The pain is incredible, and I had NO doctor who would help me. I found one, he is part of a pain management clinic. Check with your hospital, to see if there is one available to you. They usually are very good about helping people like us" VICTIMS" of worker comp. insurance. If you can please tell me who the insurance carrier is, and what state you live in, I might be able to give you more info, and help you. I live in Connecticut. Workers compensation laws need to be changed, and I was lucky enough to find a lawyer, who will go to the legislation this november, to fight these outragious laws, I'd like to know I have someone just like me"a victim" next to me in this battle. You have without a doubt met a friend in me, who REALLY does know your pain. I hope some of this is helpful, if not you have my prayers and remember "DON'T GIVE UP, DON'T SETTLE FOR ANYTHING.
Two of my patients have got spinal surgery in India. One was treated for spondylolistheis by spinal fusion and the other for disc replacement. Both of them are very happy with the results.Their pain and other symptoms due to nerve compression have totally gone.
Spinal Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges spine surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as spine surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website.
The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your spine surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.both my patients had gone to India through the forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps.
