Medical question. i woke up early this morning with a sharp pain in my lower right side, just below my ribs.?

pain located below my ribs right side towards the back. the pain subsided after a few minutes, but i can still feel it there, not hurting but kind of like a soreness. i'm male age 40. nothing hit me in that area. never felt pain there before, nothing else is abnormal. thak you.

Answers:
Go to the ER and get an evaluation. It sounds a little high for an appendix, but you don't want to mess with these kinds of things.

It could also be gallstones. But. you need to see a doctor and have tests done to give you an accurate answer.

You should have a proper medical examination. But to have an idea.it may be your kidney (especially if you don't drink water), it may be your intestine ( how often you visit the toilet), or it may be your back

Kidneys. Try drinking a lot of water for the next few days. It could just be that you've had too much soft drinks or alcohol. Or you could be getting an infection or a stone. Try drinking the water (or cranberry juice) and make an appointment to see your Dr. if it does not improve.

sounds like you might might have a kidney stone.or the start of a kidney infection. either way go to the doctor. both can get extemely painful and will not go away on their own. Kidney stones have some of the worst pain imaginable (I've had 2). but for a man they are much worse than for a woman.
