Common Causes:
There are many possible causes:
Remaining in the same seated or standing position for a long time.
Injuring a nerve supplying the body part where you feel the sensation. If you have a neck injury, for example, you may feel the sensation anywhere along your arm or hand. Similarly, a low back injury can cause sciatica -- a sensation of numbness or tingling down the back of your leg.
Lack of blood supply to the area. For example, plaque buildup from atherosclerosis in the legs can cause pain, numbness, and tingling while walking. (This is called claudication.)
Pressure on the spinal nerves, as from a herniated disk.
Carpal tunnel syndrome. This can cause numbness or tingling in your wrist, fingers, hand, or forearm.
Certain medical conditions, including diabetes, underactive thyroid, multiple sclerosis, seizures, or migraine headaches.
Abnormal levels of calcium, potassium, or sodium in your body.
Vitamin B-12 deficiency.
Transient ischemic attack (TIA) or stroke
Certain medications.
Toxic action on nerves, such as that from lead, alcohol, or tobacco.
Radiation therapy.
Need more info.tingling in both arms or just one? Where is the numbness? How long have u been having this problem? Go see a dr.

i have this same thing. i wake up in the morning and sometimes it is so bad i feel like they are frost bitten and are warming up, the pain is terrible! i went to my dr. and he had x-rays done of my neck. they found i have degenerative arthritis in my neck worse but all through my spine also. i hope you dont have this. but, this may not be your problem. you need to see your dr, and let him or her advise you on what they think you should do. they are always the best advisors when it comes to medical questions. hagd
I have been dieting and as a person who is just on the verge of hypoglycemic I have to watch my intake. I can get the shakes like a drug addict from a cup odf coffee or tea---I have to avoid all that stuff- also, when I don't eat right(ie-get too busy and grab on the run-I can get tingly fingers,a heaviness in my chest and/or a part of my lip falls asleep! ) its scary ,but it hasn't happened for years- till this diet- I solved it after talking with the Doc- I wasn't doing the 5 meals a day- I was being so good! 38 lbs- but the big diff was no carbs and those little meals to keep my energy going. As soon as I started that- the arm thing went away. It was scary- right up to my elbows and I would feel light-headed too- I don't know your situation, but it could be a food thing or the pinched nerve too-
First, talk with your general practitioner. Barring any neck injuries, it could be a repetitive motion injury such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. A nerve conduction study (EMG/NCV) can confirm or deny this.
This can be the result of sleeping with too many pillows or, is suggestive of neural compression of the brachial nerves. Mainly at the nerve root. This indicates a possible chronic problem (structural) has been established.
