what is the nice way to ask someone to stop smoking?
Question:
Answers:
Try this: Leave the person an anonymous note, printed up on the computer if you don't want them to figure out who sent it, saying: "Dear Friend: People who smoke have a much higher risk of getting lung cancer and dying. Please don't die." A similar note was given to a man who weighed over 400 pounds by a friend who wanted him to lose weight and get in better shape. That man lost 250 pounds and has devoted his life to helping others lose weight and live a more healthy lifestyle. The man's name is Richard Simmons. Hey, you never know.

Why would you?
BE as blunt as you have to be to get the massage across.any amount of rudeness is justified if yuo can get one person to quit smoking!.you are helping them prolong ther lives after all! Just say..stop smoking
Pretty much like you just did. Could you try to stop smoking?
And leave it there. DON'T NAG you'll make them angry and they will have to go for a cigarette
Just say something like "Hey, I really like hangin' out with you but I'd really prefer that you not smoke around me." Start with that and if they ask for specifics then give your reasons.but in a nice way! Maybe having you bring the negative effects of smoking to light in a positive way will atleast get them to start thinking about quitting. For me, it was a combination of getting very bad lung infection (didn't like not being able to breathe) and my 11 yr. old daughter talking with me about why I smoked after she participated in a D.A.R.E program. Just remember to remain supportive and don't insult them, even if they give you illogical execuses. Remember, they're not only quitting a substance but a behavior as well, so it will take many baby steps before they take the big step. start to cough they should get the hint
