Is there anything I can do to stop having hot flashes?

Question:
I've tried the patches pills estrogen replacement etc. I quit taking/using anything because 1. they didn't really work! 2. now I hear its not good to take them.

Answers:
Soy based products have a safer estrogen kind that may help the transition. Those 'cooling bands' may help around the forehead or neck. Just know it is supposed to be time limited, so slowly get better over time. If it doesn't seem too, it may be worthwhile to investigate as other conditions may mimic 'hot flushes'. So keeping a journal to see if there is a pattern of time, food related, place related, weather, etc. with frequency so you have something to show your doctor.

i would try alternative medicine like acupuncture the hot flashes will pass with time its just on of those things that have to happen naturally

A friend of mine took Vitamin E and said it really helped. Check with your doctor first, make sure it won't react with other meds you're taking. First of all, they're power surges. That takes the negative feeling away. I feel for you, even though I've never had any. I've heard that wet wipes- if you use one when you first feel it coming on, can make it not be as bad. Have you tried any over-the -counter stuff like black cohash or Estroven? Don't stop trying- something will work!

I too suffer from hot flashes .You might like to try a herbal product called Black Cohosh
