there is no cure.it's a virus and needs to run it's course. In the mean time, treat the symptoms with over the counter medications, drink LOTS of water, get plenty of rest and try not to pass it along to others (ie, good hand-washing!)

patience, rest and a lot of hot tea

There is no "cure". It's a virus like aids, passed from person 2 person. You don't get it from being cold. No KNOWN common cold cure exists. Think about it, "cold and flu" season is the TRILLION $$$$ time of year for pharmetcutial companies. If one puts out the cure for common cold: talk about blowing out a trillion dollar candle.

And you don't really expect them to do that, do you now?

It's been widely speculated, almost to the point of reaching urban legend status, that one major medicine maker HAS the proven cure for the common cold---and that information is well kept locked from us to see. Hot chicken soup may help a little. But like what others said, time, rest and plenty of fluids and rest are needed to heal the cold.
Some go to the doctor to get medication.
If one's cold does not heal in 4-7 days, he may like to see a doctor or go to the hospital. There is no cure for the common cold. You just have to let it run its course. There are though some effective home remedies that may shorten the duration of the cold.

There is NO "CURE" for the common cold.because a "cold" is a "viral" infection, and to this day have been unable to stop or "cure" VIRAL infections. And THAT is the difference between a "bacterial" and a "viral" invasion. Bacteria can be fought with "anti-biotics".but there's no such thing as an "anti-VIRAL" medication. And that is that.
