I haven't had a cigarette for 5 weeks. Starting to struggle a bit!?

I'm on medium nrt patches, whats going to happen when I have to come off them and go it alone?!

I am a few weeks behind you and feeling the same way. I am topping up with gum when I really get the urge. Last night was a nightmare as I had a few beers and sat out in the garden with my partner while she smoked. It drove me made but I just kept telling myself that I would get throuh it. It has been so difficult this time (fourth time quitter) that I don't want to blow it and have to do it all over again. Go onto low level patches and follow the instructions then swithc to gum. The idea is that as you are being weaned rom the nictotine gradually you are also losing the psychological side of the addiction as well. The psych side is the really tricky bit of any addiction so when you come off the patches, if you have this beat then you will succeed.
Keep at it.
Ps, it is so hard, it always reminds me of a quote from friend when chandler says that his reward for doing so well in giving up is a cigarette. All that effort and the only reward worth having is one you can't have.
It sucks but it's better than cancer.

You'll be fine if you stick with it. Every time you crave, tickle yourself instead, or something.
I've been off them for 5 months now and i know the stage your at. All I can suggest is that when you ditch the patches, replace them with glucose tablets (1 a hour) and a drink of water whenever you get the urge to smoke. It worked for me.

just think if you have another cigarette you will die, just don't do it, you are strong, you don't need one, don't ruin the progress you've made so far, just remember how beautiful you are, start chewing gum or start drinking coffe, get addicted on something else except from alcohol, hope this helps! keep going , I'm 7 months now and its still very hard , i wont smoke if you don't OK , good luck , i will be thinking of you

Congradulations on even coming this far. Now that you have, you can go all the way. I know this is a difficult time because I have been trying to quit myself. I only hope that in 5 weeks I can come on here and say that I have also quit 5 weeks ago. Don't let yourself struggle with this anymore, you can do it just like I know I can! We'll team together if we have too! Purchase the cheapest tobacco pipe,then whenever the craving comes on simply place pipe in mouth and suck until craving has gone.It worked for me!!
yeah! you've done it. me and a coupleo f mates gave up about 20 weeks ago and are still all off them.it is REALLY difficult BUT you have to tell yourself these things..
1. YOU DO NOT HAVE A CHEMICAL ADDICTION NOW.
2. YOU ARE ABOUT 4 x FITTER and WILL LIVE A LOT LONGER.
3. IF YOU START AGAIN IT WILL KILL YOU.
4. PERHAPS YOU ARE NOT THE SORT OF PERSON WHO CAN SMOKE UNTIL THEY ARE 80..GET ANOTHER HOBBY
