Drinking water alone is not the solution.

When you sweat, have diarrhoea or are sick you loose body fluids and salts very quickly. Whilst drinking water restores some of the fluid loss it is not entirely effective and the more water you drink the less effective it becomes. During a day you will probably not notice the stress this puts on your body, but your body will and it leads to premature ageing!!

Your body is controlled by nerves and signals that rely on minute amounts of electricity. As you loose body fluid the salts needed to keep the electrical balance are reduced weakening their efficiency. Water on it's own lacks these salts. As you drink more water you dilute your body fluid further. The water aids sweating which carries more salts away and because water makes you pee you flush more out of your system. Thus you are in fact helping to worsen the situation.

The solution is quite simple. You need to take in more electrolyte every so often. Sports energy drinks are ideal for this.

In cases where diarrhoea or sickness is the cause there are packets of electrolytes on sale in pharmacies. No diet coke just popped another
