how can i deal quickly with an outbreak of shingles on my face/chin?? the itching is driving me crazy!!?

Question:
this is probably the fourth time this has happenned in the last tweny years. concurrently, i just started having some real sciatica issues on my right buttock and leg, which is also the same side of my face that has the shingle problem.

Answers:
I would definitely see a doctor if it's happening with other problems. They can surely prescribe something to help.

Are you sure you have shingles? If so you should be in a lot of pain (unless you've already seen the doctor and he's prescribed a pain reliever). Shingles are horrible! Anyway, good news for the future. There's a new vaccine out to help cut down on the outbreaks, and you sound like a good candidate. Check it out at

I believe shingles is caused by a virus (maybe a bacteria) but in any event can be a very serious and even life threatening situation. You need to see a doctor.
Go see a doctor - my sister suffers from this also - her's is stress related - there is a cream but it is presciption only but it clears it up overnight! Good Luck and God Bless!
shingles is what older people get and will at the same feel like they have the flu for a month straight.. you need to see your doctor if you want to get rid of it in a proper manner because there is no quick fix.
are you sure this is shingles? shingles is caused by the virus that causes chicken pox. whenever you contract chicken pox as a child, the virus lays dormant in the roots of your spinal cord. when you get ill, are under alot of stress, or when your body undergoes some other major change, the virus may be "woken up" and as a result, you get shingles. shingles appears as a red bumpy rash that is localized to a patch of the body. it follows what is called a dermatome, or one area of the body which is innervated by certain nerves. we often see shingles in patches on the face, under the breast (in women), on the back, and in the groin area. it is EXTREMELY painful, and very itchy. it goes away in a matter of days - the red bumps eventually scab over (once they scab over they are no longer contagious) and the rash fades.

if this is in fact shingles you are experiencing, a good way to get rid of it is to ask your doctor for a zovirax prescription, which is an anti-viral medication. this can help make the shingles last for less time. also, you may want to ask for a nerve pain blocker, such as lyrica or neurontin to help decrease pain. some doctors may even prescribe percocet or lortab to help keep you pain-free. you will want to check out what you have going on with a doctor to make a positive diagnosis of shingles, however, before you get too far.
