Patella Chondromalacia, Patella Femoral Syndrome, Arthritis, and Bursitis?

Question:
I have had most of these problems since I was 11, and I am 16 now.
I had fallen and slightly dislocated my knee.
I have had 6 surgeries, but have horrible pain, although my knee cap is in place, arthritis has set in, and I have developed bursitis. My knee buckles so I fall. Right now I am on Darvocet for the pain.
I have tried Physical Therapy, Acupuncture, Tai Chi, Yoga, a pain psychologist, and many other things.
We havent really found anything that helps.
I go to a Pain Management Clinic right now.
Any suggestions or other ideas?

Answers:
Arthroplasty- any surgery done to improve the function of a joint. Nowadays this usually refers to joint replacement but replacement is reserved for elderly patients due to the unpredictable life span of the implants. Maybe your doctor is thinking of interposing something underneath your patella to make it glide smoother. This is another kind of arthroplasty. Sit down and discuss with him. Nothing to lose!
Has a total knee arthroplasty been recommended? Osteoarthritis is a major reason for the operation. At 16, you are at the ending of your growth cycle.
