what causes snorting in your sleep?

Someone I know snorts at times in their sleep, not snore snorts what causes that?

The same mechanics that causes the female genitalia to queef.

The throat gets dry,air rushes in and then out and the snorting is usually caused from the epiglotus being dry
usually ur adnoids..i dunno if that's spelled right..also could be tonsils
Sounds like it could be sleep aphnea. It is when you quit breathing on your own. They start again suddenly and it comes out as a snort. It can be a dangerous condition. The person should tell their doctor and maybe a sleep clinic should be consulted.

Room mate with sleep aphnea. Has to wear a machine at night to keep breathing. something in the brain shuts down and breathing stops and they don't always wake up enough to start again! Snorting is how it started as a baby.
blocked nose, curved nasal septum, head position during sleeping and sinusitis
